Every year in July the National Committee holds an "Orientation Weekend" for British students preparing to start at a UWC in September (or the following January for Waterford Kamhlaba UWC). At the Orientation Weekend, new UWCers can:
- Meet each other. This is a really great opportunity to foster inter-UWC co-operation by making sure that British students across all UWCs can form friendships and hopefully keep in touch during their time at college.
- Meet their second years. Current students from many UWCs attend Orientation Weekend are able to get to know their new first years before term starts.
- Ask questions. Question-and-answer sessions will be held with alumni, parents, and current students. It's a great chance to ask any questions or settle any fears about starting out on a UWC experience.
- Have fun. There will be team-building activities, games, and quizzes to get everybody chatting - parents, alumni, and future UWCers.
Online Orientation 2020
Orientation 2020 will take place on the weekends of 11th, 12th & 18th, 19th July.
Due to social distancing measures resulting from the spread of the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, UWC Great Britain is arranging for Orientation to be held virtually online.
We will communicate to all parents and candidates more information regarding the setup, format and times of all sessions for our Orientation 2020 weekend in due course.
We appreciate your patience and support whilst we adapt to meet this new challenge.
If you have already signed up or made a payment towards our original planned Orientation Weekend at Thornbridge Outdoors, we will contact you to update you on the situation and arrange a refund, or you can contact email@example.com to ask any questions.
We look forward to seeing you and hope your preparations for UWC are going smoothly!
